Typo is an Aussie brand that can be a bit hit and miss. They have some cute stuff as well as some well, junky and tacky dust collector type products. Their weekly planners (and their daily planners too) usually have the same generic layout that most planner companies copy off each other – horizontal & vertical.
So I was pleased to see they did something a little different this year with the page setup, let’s take a closer look!
I was not compensated for this post. I paid for the planner myself & all opinions are my own.

The cover
The cover is my favorite part of the planner – love that marble and those colors!
Personal Info Page
I’m normally not someone that’s keen on pastels but I actually don’t mind the pale pink paired with mint!
2018 Dates at a glance calendar
Public Holidays Page
Unlike most planners, this one has public holidays pre-printed for Australia, New Zealand, USA, Malaysia, UK and a couple of other countries. AND it tells you the day of the week that the public holiday falls on, not just the date <3
Weekly spread
2 pages per week in horizontal style – love that pop of mint / aqua!
The sections for each day are unlined and there’s no divider line between the days so I can see this getting a bit of a jumbled mess unless you line up each week or use washi tape which will probably get annoying.
I liked the shaded part of each day which would be good for flagging a most important task, meal planning, cleaning, bills due, exams etc.

When the weeks are split between months the first couple of days of the month are placed on a notes page so some months have a larger notes section at the end than others.
Monthly calendar
Both the weekly and the monthly spreads start on a Monday <3 No matter how many planners I review, I’m still pleasantly surprised when planner companies do this as most start the monthly calendar on a Sunday and the weekly spread on a Monday for whatever weird reason (that makes no sense to me)
Love the highlights, happenings and headlines notes space on the page.
The boxes are a reasonable size – just over 1.25″ wide x just under 1.25″ high. However…
Instead of re-starting the numbers at the top of the page, they add a 6th row to the calendar making every, single. box on the page smaller to write in – why do companies do this?! – it’s even worse than splitting the last daily box into 2 like some companies do – such a waste of functional planning space!
Tabs
The laminated tabs are large and easy to grip. The dividers / tabs themselves are a very thin cardstock though (barely thicker than paper)
Pen Testing
Of the numerous gel, ballpoint, needle tip and fine tip pens, most had ghosting on the other side of the page 🙁

Pros of the Typo Weekly Planner
- The cover is so pretty!
- Sturdy chipboard cover
- Nice colors
- Compact size ideal for your handbag
- Laminated tabs
- Large tabs that are easy to grip
- Large numbers on the weekly spread – easy to read
- Cheap
Cons of the Typo Weekly Planner
- The weekly spread is unlined except for the notes section
- Lack of extras pages such as notes pages
- The dividers & tabs are made from thin cardstock
- The notes sidebar of the monthly calendar is graph paper style – I personally hate writing on graph paper!
- The monthly notes page is split into 2 with lines up the top but then annoying graph paper at the bottom – although you could use this for a savings tracker, habit tracking etc.

Would I use this planner?
Yes, I’m going to give it a go in 2018! Make sure you subscribe to keep up with my planner challenge.
This planner would be ideal for someone that prefers unlined weekly spreads, pops of color, doesn’t like to plan their days in great detail and doesn’t need any extras pages (or uses a separate notebook for list making).
Typo also has book / sewn bound planners if you prefer that binding style.
