I’m a massive pen addict. MUST. TRY. THEM. ALL. There are tons of pen brands out there, but not all of them are readily available in stores. So to feed my addiction, I’ve spent many hours shopping…err researching the best places to find planner pens online.
This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.
1. Jet pens
If you’re a fellow pen addict you’ve probably heard of Jet Pens. This site has almost every pen brand you can think of – there’s too many to list! If you can’t find a pen elsewhere, this site is sure to have it.
They make it really easy to shop and you can filter by color, pen tip size, brand, price etc.
They also sell pen refills.
They have sampler packs so you can try some different pen brands in different pen tip sizes and styles, but note that these tended to not work out that much cheaper than just buying the exact pens you want individually.
2. Officeworks
If I’m having a crappy day at my day job, I stop by Officeworks during my lunch break and buy pens. Maybe that’s why I have so many…
Officeworks has many pens including:
- Artline Smoove (one of my favorite ballpoint pens for everyday planning)
- Pilot frixion erasable
- Artline
- Paper Mate
- Plenty of highlighters
They tend to have a better range in store than they do online.
My favorite aisle…

3. Carefully Crafted
This is my sisters’ planner supplies shop. She has quite a range of planner pens – she may or may not have ordered in most of them so I could get my hands on them… 🙂
She has a few that are hard to find in Australia such as:
- Pentel RSVP
- Paper Mate Flair
- Paper Mate Inkjoy Gel (0.7mm and the hard to find 0.5mm)
- Pilot G2
- Tombow brush pens
- Uniball Signo
- Sarasa
- Kaisercraft Color (these are my favorite metallic gel pens!)
- Le Pen
- Pilot frixion
4. Bunbogu
This Australian (Melbourne based) pen shop was a recent find. They stock pen brands that are hard to find in Australia including:
- Pentel
- Uniball
- Midliner highlighters (after seeing so many people raving about them on Instagram I’m keen to try them!)
- Sarasa
- Pilot Juice
Similar to Jet Pens, they give you the option to buy pens individually so you can try them out and see if you like them before purchasing the rest of the colors in the collection.
Their prices were comparable and they have free shipping for Australian on orders over $15 (which is not hard to spend!)
I received my order the other day and shall be posting a haul soon!
At the time of writing this in May 2017, they also had a 15% discount coupon when you join their mailing list (a pop up box with the discount appeared when I went to their site).

5. Staples
Staples have a similar range of pens to Officeworks. They stock brands including:
- Pentel
- PaperMate
- Pilot
- Uniball Signo
They also sell pen refills.
One of the reasons I like Staples is because they tell you the quantity left in stock for each item.
If you live in Australia like I do, Staples (at the time of writing this in May 2017) have a discount if you sign up for their mailing list. They do discounts but you tend to need to spend $100 or more for it to be worthwhile. They do free shipping if you spend a certain amount.
They also have a ton of other planner supplies like sticky notes and highlighters, as well as my favorite discbound notebook system, Arc.

6. eBay
As a last resort, if you can find the pens you want from a normal retail store, hit up eBay. The reason I mention eBay as a last resort, is because you can never be sure that the pens you’re going to be are actually brand new. They may be half used.
Plus, shipping tends to be more expensive on eBay, you’ll have to purchase from multiple sellers to find the pens you want (which will mean more expensive shipping). eBay isn’t really a marketplace for second hand goods anymore, and it’s usually cheaper just to buy straight from a retail store.
