As far as pen brands go, Pilot do a bit of everything: erasable pens (my all time favorite), gel pens, dual marker pens etc. If you’re trying to narrow down your planner wish list, these are my favorite Pilot pens!
Disclaimer: Pilot sent me some of these pens so I could try them out 🙂 As always, all opinions are my own. This posts contains affiliate links.
Pilot Frixion Erasable Pens (0.7mm)
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, the Frixion Erasable Pens making it to number 1 on my list won’t come as a surprise.
These pens write smoothly, the ink doesn’t ghost or bleed through and most importantly – they erase!
The thinner style with a clear lid (which I randomly found in a WH Smith in Singapore airport of all places!) come in nicer colors…
than the more readily available fatter style…
There are various pen tips to choose from. 0.38mm and 0.5mm are too small for my liking – 0.7mm is just right!
Pilot Frixion Marker
If you need something with a fatter tip, or are labelling your children’s toy storage containers, your pantry labels etc., then the Frixion Markers would be a good choice.
The pack includes all the essential rainbow colors! <3
Pilot Twin Marker
The marker end of this pen is a bit scratchy to write with, however the thin tip is great – writes so smooth. The colors of these pens are really bright and a true match for the color of the actual pens. Anyone else find it frustrating when you use a pen that is light green but the ink comes out dark green?
These pens do bleed through the page a bit so are best used in a notebook / for bullet journaling where you can leave the back page blank and skip to the next one.
Pilot PopLol
The Pop Lol are very smooth to write with and retractable so you don’t have to worry about losing the pen lid.
This range also comes in white so you can write on Kraft paper and black paper.
If you’re a fellow Aussie, these pens can be a bit hard to find. I’ve only seen these in an actual shop for sale individually at Officeworks.
The apple green and yellow are ok up close but from a distance the ink is quite bright / hard to read.
Some slight ghosting on the back side of the pages
I usually hate anything pastel however I actually like the pastel violet.
The white pen isn’t as good as the Sakura Gelly Roll 08 – I had to write over it 3 times to get the ink to show. However, it is much cheaper than the Sakura.
Pilot Juice
To be honest, these are probably my least favorite pens from Pilot. They’re a bit scratchy on the page, but they do come in nice colors. I bought these before I discovered the Pop Lol. The Pop Lol are definitely better – write a lot smoother, fatter pen tip and come in even nicer colors.
The Pilot Juice pens come in 0.38mm, 0.5mm and 0.7mm. The 0.7mm is my favorite.
There’s normal Pilot Juice and Metallic Pilot Juice – I prefer the normal Pilot Juice as the metallic looks darker on the page compared to the actual color of the pen.
Pilot Juice Up
Don’t like this pen in the 0.4mm or needle tip – too scratchy (I write on an angle so me and needle tip pens don’t work too well) and the pen tip is too small.
Pilot Erasable Stamps
The Pilot erasable stamps are my all time favorite stamps – I wish they came in more colors and symbols / images so I could do color coded lists.
Pilot Erasable Highlighters
Love the bright colors. Avoid the pastel ones though – the color is so feint you can hardly see it.
Just make sure you don’t use Frixion erasable pens with the erasable highlighters – if you erase, it will rub out both the pen and highlighter. Also be careful not to get any other pen’s ink on the erasable thing at the end of the pen – otherwise it will smear when you go to erase like it did for the yellow (below) 🙁
And if you need somewhere to store all these pilot pens, they have a pen storage case:

Pilot Color Eno 0.7 Mechanical Pencils
I don’t normally use mechanical pencils (or pencils for that matter) just for the occasional planner decorating as an alternative to highlighters. The Pilot Color Eno 0.7mm mechanical pencils are refillable, a good tip size and all of the colors are nice and bright, except the yellow. The yellow was terrible. I couldn’t get the color to transfer to the page, I pushed down hard to get the color out and the lead snapped – all it seemed to do was indent the page without leaving any color behind. All the other colors worked fine. Nevermind, I never use yellow anyway.
In summary…
I Recommend:
- Frixion erasable pens
- Frixion erasable highlighters
- Poplol gel pens
- Frixion stamps
- Pilot Twin Marker
- Pilot Frixon Marker
I’m not a fan of:
- Pilot Color Eno 0.7 Mechanical Pencils
- Pastel Frixon erasable highlighters
- Pastel and metallic Poplol (stick to the rainbow colors – much nicer!)
- Pilot juice up (if you write on an angle like I do)
- Pilot juice (again, the Poplol are better!)

You can get the stamps here in the US on Amazon. I too wish they came in more colors. Love the FriXion erasable retractable pens. And when the ink runs out, you can get replacement inks!

I love the Frixon erasable pens, however, they contain a very small amount of ink for the price. This occurred with everyone I used. So I won’t be buying anymore.

Hi Gale, how often do you use them? I use mine quite often and I don’t find they run out quickly. You can get replacement inks to save $

I adore Frixion pens! They actually make my handwriting better – I don’t know how! I went to PT yesterday after completing my new patient forms with the black .07 retractable Frixion and 2 people actually commented on my nice handwriting!
