After trying 52 different planners last year, the Mi Goals Planner was one of my favorites. I really liked the 2017 layout and the 2018 layout is even better. More habit tracking space, the days of the week on one side of the page and a weekly goal section = <3. The layout ticks all the boxes for my planning needs! 🙂
Disclaimer. Adam, the creator of the planner, sent me a copy of free for this review. I was going to purchase the planner anyway! As always, all opinions are my own.

The Cover
The cover is too plain for my liking. I’m thinking about making a gold monogram sticker to add to the front to jazz it up a bit!
It’s about 1.5cm thick
The 2018 is bigger and wider than the 2017 version.
The planner comes in a nice gift box
They also sent me the Get Shit Done Notebook. It’s literally the lightest little book ever and would be perfect for on the go planning if you prefer to use an app on your phone and but sometimes need some paper handy.

Examples of how to use the pages
These pages are built into the planner so you can flick back and refer to them whenever you need to.
There’s an example of how to use each type of page – very handy!
Public holidays page
The planner was made in Australia so has Aussie public holidays. It also has USA and UK holidays.
Dates at a glance
Starts on Sunday which I found odd since the monthly calendar and weekly spread both start on Monday
Goal Setting Pages
Reflection on last year:
Lots of vision planning pages!
Bucket list
Future planning:
The planner includes goal setting pages for short term and long term goals – which most planners don’t do!
Short term goal planning
Long term goal planning
Vision planning space
Questions and goal milestones
Monthly Planning Page
I really like the monthly planning page. I tend to plan in groups of 3. Top 3 for each month, week, day etc.
When I use the planner I’m thinking about using the 3 goal sections for 3 different blog categories then listing the post ideas in the focus sections below.
Monthly Calendar
Mi Goals changed the layout of the monthly calendar from the 2017 edition. This planner definitely has the angle of being created for side hustlers working in the margins in mind with Saturday and Sunday having large boxes sizes to plan the week.
The monthly calendars used to be at the start of the planner – now they’re switched to be inter-sperced between the weekly spreads throughout the planner.
I think I prefer the 2017 calendar layout better in the list style format – it was one of the features which made the planner unique!
Month in Review
Weekly Planner
The weekly planner is really in sync with how I plan with the days of the week on the left page and list making, top 3, habit tracking and notes space on the right. I’ve reviewed a lot of planners and this layout is definitely one of my favorites!
The week starts on a Monday (consistent with the monthly spread)
I really like the weekly layout – super functional! A big improvement from last year’s layout is a more structured right page.
The 2017 edition only had space to track 3 habits but this year’s has 7 🙂 Saturday and Sunday also have the same amount of planning space as the weekdays (last year they were combined).
When the month ends mid-week the month is added as a reminder.
Extras pages
Budgeting
Space to record income and expenses for each month. Really like the compact layout
Lined & blank notes pages
The paper is quite see through so you can use the shadow of the lines pages when writing on the blank pages.
Tabs
The planner doesn’t have tabs but it does put the week numbers and the page title in the bottom right hand corner to make it easier to find the page you’re looking for:
Pen Testing
Some ghosting but no bleed through except for the MAMBI stamps.
Pros of the Mi Goals Planner
- Portable (A5 size)
- Compact planner – because there is no spiral / coil binding, it’s only 1.5cm thick and weighs hardly anything
- Weekly habits tracker
- Simple, minimalist design in black and white so you can use any colors they won’t clash / will always look good!
- There’s 10 goal worksheets in the planner with space to record the type of goal (short or long), key milestones (as well as dates and a box to tick off once complete), things to do in order to achieve the goal, and the outcome you want at the end
- Week numbers are in the bottom corner, along with the page type (e.g. notes page)
- 2 bookmarks – so you can keep your place with what month you’re up to as well as the weekly spread (since there’s no tabs)
- Fast shipping (and free shipping to Australia when you spend over $50)
Cons of the Mi Goals Planner
- The paper is thin so all of the pens I did pen testing with (including gel and ballpoint pens) had ghosting
- The paper is a bit yellow in color – I wish it was white and thicker to prevent pen bleed through
- No cover personalisation – the cover is a bit plain
- No tabs

Would I use this planner?
Yes! I’ll be trying it this year, and I may even break my ‘rule’ of using a different planner each week and use it a couple of weeks in a row!
Hi Rachael,
Love the Mi Goals Planner. Is there any place to order it in the U. S.? Thanks for the great and thorough review.
