Plum Paper Horizontal Priorities Weekly Spread Review (Pros, Cons, Pen Test and Video)
Plum Paper is one of my all time fav planner companies – personalised, lots of layouts to choose from, nice cover designs, affordable price + cheap international shipping. One of the newer planner layouts is the horizontal priorities.

The Cover
I couldn’t say no to this flamingo pattern for the cover!
The cover material is the same as previous years – smooth matte with a clear cover to protect it (much prefer that to a laminate cover as it’s less prone to scuffing and the corners are rounded so don’t get bent)
Horizontal Priorities Weekly Spread
I opted for the colorful inside layout. I’ve used the neutral and it got boring really quickly. Plum Paper have been using the same colors for a few years now and while I like them, it would definitely be great if they released an option for different colors for each month or different colorways.

As with past years, when a month ends midway through a week you get the grey shaded days of the previous month. The days are then repeated on the following month (i.e. duplicate days). You choose if you want to plan the start of January with the end of December. Or the end of December with the start of January.

I think this layout would be ideal for a student (as the weekends are combined) or if you’re self-employed.

Monthly Calendar
The company is USA based so has US holidays printed. The monthly calendar starts on a Sunday (not consistent with the weekly spreads that start on Monday)
Unfortunately they’re still doing that annoying thing where they split boxes into 2 rather than just re-starting the numbering on the top row

Pen Testing
The paper quality of Plum Paper Planners is really the only letdown. It’s good but not great. It’s bright white and smooth to write on and there isn’t much ghosting for ballpoint pens.
However highlighters, marker pens and some of the thicker gel pens are prone to showing on the other side.

Can you please tell me the main difference between the PP horizontal & PP Me. And what does the term “arcing” mean ? I would really like to try this planning/organizing craze however I am not a super busy person as my kids are all grown & gone, but I would still like to become more organized.
There are currently 2 Plum Paper Horizontal:
– 1 with open ended boxes for each day (2 sections – lined and unlined)
– Another with the priorities section including habit tracker (that was this review).
The Me Planner has multiple sections for each day (I call it a ‘categories’ layout as it’s structured). The Me Planner is good if you have the same things each week e.g, school subjects, or in my case blog post, meal planning, cleaning, travel planning etc. or as a mom planner with a different box for each family member. Arcing isn’t really an official ‘thing’ it’s what I call converting a standard planner into discbound. When you order through Plum Paper you have the option of leaving the pages unpunched i.e. without the coil. I then took the unpunched pages and punched them with the ARC discbound punch. If you don’t have a lot to plan I’d go with a horizontal 1 page for weekly planning + notes page on the right (good for list making). E.g. this layout: https://allaboutplanners.com.au/how-and-why-i-pre-plan-the-week-using-the-plum-paper-horizontal-lined-with-notes-layout/
Another option would be bullet journaling. If you use sewn bound notebooks they’re smaller than most planner page sizes so you’re likely to feel less like you’re ‘wasting’ paper. You also have more room to do decorative spreads.
I recently considered Plum Paper versus Agendio, and I opted for Agendio because I could purchase it unpunched, leaving me free to punch it for my discbound planner. I greatly prefer this Plum Paper layout, and it comes with tabs, which Agendio does not offer for unpunched planners. Plum Paper either did not offer an unpunched option, or I just didn’t know about it at the time I made my purchase decision in early January 2019. I’ll stick with Agendio for now because it’s a dated planner, but it looks like my next refill will be from Plum Paper!
Hi Janis, if it doesn’t have an option to select when checking out just leave them a note that you’d like the planner unpunched. I too have purchased the Agendio – definitely a close tie with Plum Paper!
