Eccolo Weekly Planner Review (Horizontal + Notes Layout) – Pros, Cons & Pen Test

When this planner arrived in the mail it immediately became one of my all time favorites in this type of weekly spread. Functional layout, great page size, simple but still cute – it ticks all the boxes. Unfortunately the Eccolo planners are hard to come by.

While this planner is dated for 2017 to 2018, Eccolo seem to release new planners each year but they go very quickly!

Quick Facts

  • Size: 8″ wide x 10″ high
  • 12 month planner
  • 2 page weekly spread (Sunday start)
  • 2 page monthly calendar (Monday start)
  • Softcover
  • Bright white paper
  • Lay flat sewn binding
  • Ribbon bookmark

The Cover

Although the page size is a bit larger than most planners it weighs about the same as a coil bound.

The cover is a bendy softcover.

Dates at a Glance

Monthly Calendar

Sunday start (not consistent with the weekly spread).

If you’re a regular blog reader you’ll know what I’m going to say… split boxes :/

Apart from this, the boxes for each day are big and the lined sidebar has good proportions

Weekly Spread

This planner has my favorite 2 pages per day layout – days of the week on 1 page and notes / checklist on the other page!

The Monday start is not consistent with the monthly calendar that starts on Sunday.

As you can see, the pages lay flat on their own 🙂

The page size is slightly bigger than most planners these days (that tend to be about 7 x 9″), so despite the dates at a glance calendars (which I don’t like taking up space on the weekly spread), there’s still ample room to write.

Notes Pages

Lined writing space and just the right line spacing! (about 8mm / approx. the same height as Happy Planner)

Pen Testing

Despite the bright white paper unfortunately the quality was average.

There was ghosting for the marker pens and highlighters. When I use this planner I’ll be using ballpoint pens as there was no ghosting or bleed through.

Pros of the Eccolo Planner

  • Functional weekly spread
  • Lines are decent spacing
  • Pages lay flat
  • Bright white paper
  • Ribbon bookmark

Cons of the Eccolo Planner

  • Hard to find the planner
  • Paper quality isn’t the best
  • Monthly calendar splits boxes in half diagonally rather than restarting the numbering on the top row
  • No tabs

Would I use this planner?

Yes! Love the layout and the page size.

  1. I have not heard of this brand before but it looks very interesting. I might have to put it on the shortlist for next year.
    Thanks for a great review.
