A few years ago I posted a Mi Goals Planner Haul. I posted the review for the weekly planner but never got around to posting the review of the Progress Planner. Good thing it’s an undated planner!
Quick facts
- Size: A5

- Sewn binding
- Undated
- Goal planning

Let’s take a closer look!

Update: It appears they no longer sell the A6 version of the planner but the A5 version is still available. When I purchased the planner a year or 2 ago, it was called the Progress Planner. Looking at the Mi Goals website now they appear to have renamed it the Goals Journal. Since the A6 is no longer available I’m focusing on the A5 version in this post.
The Cover
The A6 has a hardcover but the A5 has more of a bendy hardcover that looks like a hardcover. Still sturdy though,
Approx 0.75″ thick
As you can see – quite a size difference!
At the front they include a few examples showing how they suggest you use the planner.
Goal Planning
This planner can be used for up to 3 goals. Each goal gets their own page to plan in more detail. I think 2 pages for each goal would be better. There’s no rooms for mind mapping or notes, breaking tasks down into sub-tasks etc.
Daily Planning
After the goal planning the daily spreads start.
Something you won’t find in a planner very often – two pages to plan each day. I really like that this layout doesn’t have a pre-printed schedule with times. Instead they leave space for you to add it if you need it, or just use that space for more lists, notes reminders, health etc.
Also love the mix of checklist, lined and unlined writing space.
The line spacing is my favorite size – approx 0.7cm.
The A6 format has a condensed daily planning page with to do list, ‘today I’ journaling section, 3 things you did to bring you closer to your goals, i struggled with today and tomorrow I’m looking forward to. The format of the A5 version is much more functional.
7, 30, 60 & 90 Day Progress Review
Interspersed between the daily planning pages are the goal review pages.
The questions are the same for each review.
Goal Review
At the back is space to write down the goals you achieved (or parts of those goals that you achieved).
Pen Testing
Since the paper quality is the same as their weekly planner, I didn’t bother doing another pen test. Here is the results from the weekly planner pen test:
Some ghosting for the pen, highlighters and Frixion erasable pens, but no bleed through except for the MAMBI stamps:
Pros of the Mi Goals Planner
- Portable (A5 size)
- Lay flat pages
- Compact planner – because there is no spiral / coil binding, it’s thin and weighs hardly anything
- Simple, minimalist design in black and white so you can use any colors they won’t clash / will always look good!
- 2 ribbon bookmarks
- Fast shipping (and free shipping to Australia when you spend over $50)
Cons of the Mi Goals Planner
- The paper is thin so all of the pens I did pen testing with (including gel and ballpoint pens) had ghosting
- The paper is a bit yellow in color, not bright white
- No cover personalisation – the cover is plain
- No tabs
Would I use this planner?
Maybe. I use a weekly planner, not day to a page planners.. but this planner might work for me if I convert it into a weekly spread similar to what I did with the daily Day Designer.
