Your planner is a very useful tool for keeping track of your money and one of the easiest ways to do that (and add some color to your planner), is by using stickers!

How do you intend to use the stickers?
Before you start shopping for budgeting planner stickers, think about how you’ll use them. I shared different ways to for color coding bill paying in your planner in this post.
- Are you tracking savings using a printable or budgeting inserts and you only need stickers for bill due reminders on the monthly spread?
- If you aren’t on a fixed income, do you want to record your income weekly or monthly?
- Are you budgeting on the monthly calendar only? (nothing on the weekly spread)
- Do you want to include budgeting in your main planner, or will you use a separate planner?
- Do you want to keep your budget tracking to the sidebar only of your monthly and / or weekly spread?
- Do you have a lot of space for budgeting in your planner, or should you stick to icon / reminder stickers only?
- How detailed do you want to do your budgeting? E.g. do you want to track everything you’re spending money on, or just reminders for things like paying off your credit card at the end of each month is enough?
Types of budgeting stickers
- Motivational
- Savings trackers
- Bill due (a sticker that has a section to write the cost) – individual stickers for each day, or a sidebar sticker for listing all of the bills due that week or month
- Specific icons e.g. a house for your mortgage repayment, $ signs for payday etc.
- Color coding (simple colored dot stickers are helpful for this)
- Symbols such as ! or a star can be useful for budgeting reminders and if you buy them in enough different colors, you can use them for other reminders in your planner
- Do you want to code your bills? e.g. blue for your own expenses, pink for shared expenses, green for discretionary spending – consider if you need to buy an entire sticker sheet in one color, or multiple colors
- Corner reminder stickers for the boxes for each day on a monthly calendar
Sizes of budgeting stickers
Don’t be distracted by pretty stickers, you also need to consider the size of your planner. I find stickers tend to come in about 3 sizes:
- Micro (0.25″) – ideal for icons and reminders, especially in A5 (or smaller) planners and bullet journals
- Medium (0.5″) – ideal for medium size planners (say around 7″ wide x 9″ high)
- Large (0.75″ plus) – ideal if you have plenty of space in your planner, and for larger page sizes (say US letter size / 8.5″ wide x 11″ high)
If you’re using a weekly planner with vertical columns for each day, or would like to use sidebar stickers, make sure you measure the width as not every planner (even the popular brands), use the exact same dimensions (even if they have the same page size).

Cost of Budgeting Planner Stickers
The cost varies depending on:
- The brand
- How many sticker sheets are included
- How many stickers are on those sheets
- If there is foiling on the sticker sheets (they’ll be more expensive)
- Removable sticker sheets
Expect to pay around $2 AUD (approx $1.30 USD at the time of publishing this post) per sticker sheet when you buy it as a book, and about $3.50 – $4.50 AUD ($2.25 – $3 USD) per sticker sheet if you buy single sheets.
If you’re looking for minimalist stickers (or black and white only stickers), you may need to buy individual sticker sheets as, for whatever reason, these are harder to find as entire sticker books.
If you’re looking for stickers with foil effects, they’re cheaper to buy as a mass produced sticker book.

Budgeting Sticker Books
Unfortunately, a lot of the sticker books on this list don’t state their average sticker dimensions, so you’ll need to take the dimensions of the sticker book and do a quick check. Generally I find that icon stickers and labels for you to write on such as bill due stickers tend to be no more than 1.5” wide to try and accommodate most planners. If size is important to you, make a note of your planner dimensions and keep it on a sticky note to refer to when shopping.
If you want to incorporate planner stickers into your spreads, then budgeting stickers are the perfect balance between decorative and functional. It’s usually easy to find sticker books with a few sheets of budgeting stickers, but what if you need an entire sticker book of budgeting? I’ve compiled a list of different brands with a variety of styles. In no particular order…
Carpe Diem Simple Stories Budget Sticker Tablet
Carpe Diem is one of my favorite sticker book brands. They’re compact sticker books always include a lot of stickers to choose from. They’re also ridiculously cheap and excellent value for money. I don’t know how they’re able to charge so little for so many stickers because the stickers are great quality.

Carpe Diem also have a budget planner, see this post for my review.
they do have some budgeting sticker sheets within the Calendar sticker book. That sticker book also has flexible icons such as stars and ! that could be used for budgeting – especially if you want to do color coding, or code your bills by symbols.
You could use the number stickers to create a schedule in your bullet journal, for the dates your bills, debt repayments etc. are due to be auto debited from your bank account.
Happy Planner
Be careful that the sticker book you’re purchasing is the right size. Happy Planner use digital images on their website and a mini sticker book’s image is deceiving (appears to be a similar size to a classic size sticker books).
Of all of the Happy Planner sticker books listed below the savvy saver would be my pick. The rainbow color scheme is so nice and there are so many functional stickers in the book!

- 341 stickers
- Mainly icons
- Rainbow colors, gold foil and a mix of black/rainbow stickers
There are also tiny sticker pads and sticker rolls.
With all of these options and variations of similar stickers, which do I recommend and which is the best value?
In my opinion the classic size sticker books will always be the best value. They include the most stickers, are the easiest to flip through and find what you’re looking for and are also the easiest to store. They look very nice lined up in a basket on my Ikea raskog cart!
