After reviewing 50+ planners I’m growing a little bored of the usual 2 page weekly spread and am on the hunt for less common planner layouts. After literally Googling ‘unique planner layouts’, I stumbled across Unique Planners!
Disclaimer: I reached out to Unique Planners to see if they wanted to collaborate. They gave me the planner for free and I paid for shipping. All opinions are my own.
Features of the Unique Planner by Pirongs
- The planner comes in A4 and A5 sizes. I opted for the A5 size.
- Week starts Monday
- Lay flat wire binding
- Option to choose your own add on pages
- Different colors for each month
- Choose your own cover from their designs or upload a photo of a design you’ve made
There are 3 layouts to choose from:
- Vertical (morning, day and night)
- 2 Weeks per page (1 column per week), lined
- Horizontal lined on the right page with peek at the week and checklist on the left page (this is the layout I chose)
The company also sells teacher planners, notebooks and wedding planners.
Let’s take a closer look at the planner!

Mentioned in the video: blog post planning using sticky notes
You have the option of choosing a custom cover – choose from their patterns, add a frame, text, pick the colors for your font etc. or upload a photo of a design you’ve made.
This is the cover I chose. <3 this pattern and these colors!
The planner is about 0.75″ thick with lay flat wire binding.
For the weekly spread I chose the horizontal lined on the right page with peek at the week and checklist on the left page (this is the layout I chose)!
I’m intending to use the peek at the week section for meal planning, and the horizontal space for each day for blog post planning & workflow. I was originally going to use the peek at the week section for blogging but in the A5 size it’s too small (should’ve bought the A4 size!)
The colors of the weekly spread match the colors of the month <3 when things are coordinated
After you choose the weekly layout you would like you also have the option to choose add on pages (and the order of them within the planner). Some of the options to choose from include teacher planner pages.
Important dates
Some of the add on pages I chose (there are plenty to choose from!)
The planner doesn’t have built in divider’s and tabs for each month but there are tabs you can add if you wish.
Pros of the Unique Planner
- You can choose your add on pages. I’m intending to convert some of the pages into blog post planning pages. They have pages for teachers etc. as well as general notes pages
- Custom cover – choose from their patterns, add a frame, text, pick the colors for your font etc.
- Sturdy chipboard cover
- Lay flat wire binding
- Different colors for each month
- Comes with colored sticky flags
- 2 ribbon bookmarks
- Week numbers are printed on the side of the weekly spread
Cons of the Unique Planner
- The A5 size I chose is quite squished. The lines are spaced very close together so you need to write really small.
- The boxes of the monthly calendar are quite small for each day
- No tabs (but you can use the colored sticky notes and/or tabs they send with the planner as well as the ribbon bookmarks)
- I’m not sure if it’s deliberate, but the add on pages have a yellowish tinge instead of white like the weekly planner pages
Cost of the Unique Planner
The planner costs 22 pounds (there is no extra fee for choosing your own pages and cover). Approx $40 AUD / $30 USD (as of November 2017)
Would I use this planner?
Yes! I reached out to the company about collaborating as I wanted to try this planner during 2018. The layout of this planner is ideal if you want to keep work and personal in the same planner as you can keep your plans for each category on the separate pages for each week.
