Is the SkyPark Observation Deck at Marina Bay Sands worth visiting?
There aren’t many viewpoints in Singapore, all of the focus is on the Marina Bay Sands building and the viewpoint from the suspended ‘boat’ at the top of the building. So it the viewpoint worth visiting?
Where is the SkyPark Observation Deck at Marina Bay Sands?
The viewpoint is located on the rooftop (56th floor) of the Marina Bay Sands building (the famous building that looks like it has a boat at the top) at the Singapore Marina.
How to get there
I took a bus to the Opp The Ritz-Carlton station, walked across the Helix bridge to get some scenic photos of the Singapore skyline, then walked around to the hotel. You can also take the bus to Bayfront Stn Exit B/MBS or Marina Bay Financial Ctr if you want to walk along the boardwalk at the marina first.
The entrance to the viewpoint is via the doors below the Sands Sky Park entrance. Inside there is a ticket office and lift that will take you to the top.

The view during the day
I somehow was the first person of the day on the rooftop. There were plenty of people lingering at the entrance door but they mustn’t have pre-purchased their tickets online like I did. Normally I’d pre book touristy things like this months in advance, but this time I only pre purchased my ticket 2 days before. I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t be raining as most of the rooftop is uncovered.

If you’ve watched the Crazy Rich Asians movie here is the infinity pool!

There’s excellent views from the top over towards Gardens by the Bay…

As well as the Harbour. If you look closely you can even see the Merlion statue on the other side.

The View at Night
If I’m ever able to make it back to Singapore, I definitely want to visit Marina Bay Sands at night! It would provide a great view of the Spectra water and light show that occurs daily at 8pm and 9pm right in front of the building.
Here are some photos my sister took when she visited (she preferred visiting at night as there’s not a lot of shade up there and it does get quite hot during the day).

Should you visit at Day or Night?
I visited during the day and enjoyed my visit but Singapore is very much a nightlife city. So it depends on your personal preference, how much you’re willing to spend and how much time you have. It’s nice to see a city lit up at night but it can lose it’s detail of what you’re actually looking at without the daylight to help you get your bearings, so I’m glad I went during the day.
How to buy a ticket
I purchased my ticket from the official Marina Bay Sands website however you can also buy tickets via 3rd party sites like Viator and Klook.
Tip: the ticket went to my spam folder and it wasn’t instantly sent to me immediately after I purchased. So if you are going to buy the ticket online, try and do it a few hours (or even better, the night before) you want to visit.

How much does it cost and what are the opening hours?
There are separate opening hours and entry fees for daytime (off-peak) and nighttime (peak).
Day (off peak)
- Daily: 10am – 4.30pm (last admission at 4pm)
- $32 SGD entry fee for adults (includes booking fee and GST)
Night visit
- Daily: 5pm – 10pm (last admission at 9:30pm)
- $36 SGD entry fee for adults (includes booking fee and GST)
Opening hours may differ (this is advertised in advance on the official Marina Bay Sands website.)
Tip. I booked the 10am timeslot (first one of the day) and arrived at 9:40am. However the ticket office doesn’t open until 10am. So if you’ve booked a 10am entry ticket there’s no point arriving before 10am.
How long does it take to visit?
I spent about 45 minutes at the top taking an excessive number of photos. There are a few tiny food stalls and a restaurant at the top but if you’re not staying to eat there, I’d allow 30 minutes at the top for a visit. Add extra if you’re queuing for a ticket and want to check out the hotel lobby.
Don’t forget to visit the Marina Bay Sands shopping mall too! There’s an artificial canal running through it with boat rides (guess you really can make money out of anything…) and the food court with a digital light canvas by teamLab. It’s easy to get lost in there, so if you’re looking for the food court, it’s at the end where the Lotus shaped building (the Art Science Building) is.

Is it worth visiting the viewpoint at the Marina Bay Sands?
Yes! I love a viewpoint and I really liked visiting this iconic building.
And just in case you were curious, here is the view of the Marina from the boardwalk at ground level – still good but can’t beat a ‘bird’s eye’ view!
