The best stationery shops in Singapore (pens, highlighters, washi tape, stencils etc.)
On my spontaneous trip to Europe I decided to add a Singapore stopover. I only had 2.5 days in the city but of course I tried to visit as many stationery shops as I could.
The prices of things weren’t cheap but if you can’t make it to Japan, Singapore had plenty of Japanese stationery to choose from.
Related post: Visiting Hands (one of Japan’s best stationery shops!)
Singapore is a nightlife city and most of the shops on this list don’t open until 10am with some of them not closing until 10pm at night!
This post has a lot of photos so give the page a little time to load!
Think
This is a true stationery store with a variety of pens, highlighters, washi tape, stencils and notebooks. There weren’t too many planners though.

Some of the brands you can find in this store:
- Pilot Frixion
- Emott fineliner pens (I’d never seen these before)
- Guitar pens (hadn’t seen these before either)
- Pilot Juice Up
- Huge range of highlighters
- Planning stencils
- Stamps
- Wide range of washi tape
- Assorted notebooks and planners (mostly basic designs and undated)
I was so templated by this alphabet stencil, but they converted to about $10AUD which is quite expensive for a plastic stencil that was only about 10cm high.

This months of the year stencil was very nice too, but you would need a fine tip (0.3mm or even thinner) to fit into the cut outs of the stencil.

What a perfectly organized pen display!

Has anyone ever tried these guitar pens? I’d never seen them before

I didn’t see many stamps that would be ideal for planning, this store and Hands (which I’ll show you later in this post) had the most options.

Great range of washi tapes – many were 5mm wide decorative tapes but…

There were some very nice skinny (3mm) washi tapes too!

Hands
If you’ve seen my Japanese stationery shopping blog post series you’ll already be aware of the Hands store. Selling numerous crafty things, they also have a well stocked stationery section.

A staple in most stationery stores for good reason – Pilot’s Frixion erasable pens are still my #1 erasable pen.

This was a new look for the Frixion clicker pen. When I swatched the ink it looked similar to existing Frixion colors and they were quite expensive (I didn’t see any packs to buy them in bulk to save money either).

Some nice color packs for the Pentel brush pens.

Highly recommend the uni-ball one pens since purchasing them from Hands on my Japan trip.

Address: 181 Orchard Rd, B1-07 Orchard Central (Orchard Road)
There is a Hands store in Terminal 1 of Changi airport (where the Jewel is located).

The airport store is much smaller and has a smaller range of brands:
- Pilot Frixion pens and highlighters
- Uniball One & Signo Pens
- Zebra Mildliner highlighters
- Sarasa pens, including clickart
- Pilot Pop’lol pens
- Tombow highlighters
This shop had mostly pens available for sale individually, with very few pen packs.

I quite liked the blue alphabet stencil in the photo below and looking back now I wish I’d bought it! Some alphabet stencils are far too big and since I normally use an A5 size notebook for bullet journaling, these letters would’ve been a good size for headings. The stencil was a much more sturdy plastic than the alphabet stencil I saw at Think (and more reasonably priced too).

These calendar stickers reminded me of watercolor paint splotches which would look nice in a planner but they (and every other stickers I found) were quite expensive with not many stickers included in the packs.

Address: Changi Airport (note, this store is 2 levels with stationery on the upper level. I did not see a lift to get to level 2, so you will need to carry your carry on suitcase up a set of stairs)
NBC Stationery

Some of the brands you can find at NBC Stationery:
- Pilot Frixion
- Leuchtturm 1917
- Jumble planners and notebooks
- Zebra mildliner
- Tombow
- Pentel
- Bulk buy pen packs
- Planner stamps
- Planner stickers
- Wide range of washi tape
If you’re looking for a planner, NBC stationery is the best shop for this. I hadn’t seen the Jumble planner and notebook range before and was wishing I had more suitcase space. There was a notebook that had split pages – half lined and half dot grid.

The brand also had a wellness journal, gratitude journal and an undated weekly planner in my favorite layout (horizontal weekday and notes page).
See all of my past reviews for weekly planners with a horizontal weekdays + notes page here

Plenty of brush pens to choose from

And plenty of well known pen and highlighter brands

I saw these Ninipie pens in Japan and almost bought them back then. I tested them again and just found them a bit too awkward to write with, a cool idea but I prefer the traditional dual tip pens where the tips are at either end.

Some highlighters I’d never seen before – I was tempted but they were quite expensive for just a single highlighter. They were also stored upright without tape around their caps, so who knows how many times they had been tested and how much ink was left in them.

Plenty of mt washi tapes from Japan, and I was very tempted by the plan deco range of stickers and tabs.

This was the first stationery shop I visited in Singapore. I saw some Frixion ersasble pattern stamps I hadn’t seen before (triangle and circle dots that could be good for marking special events in my planner, plus some borders). I wasn’t too sure about the border stamps but then I saw some examples for using them at another shop and regretted not buying it. I saw the Frixion erasable stamps at a few different stationery shops, but never saw the border stamp again 🙁

Takashimaya Department Store
This department store has a very small stationery section which is branded as NBC Stationery. I still think visiting the actual NBC Stationery store is better, but since you’ll probably already be visiting Orchard Road, you might want to pop in and take a look. It’s worth visiting the Takashimaya Department Store anyway just to have a look around (the food halls in these big department stores are worth a look too!)
Some of the brands you can find here:
- Pilot Frixion
- Zebra Mildliner
- Zebra Sarasa
- Tombow
- Bulk buy pen packs
- Limited range of brush pens
Much smaller range of washi tapes and almost no stickers.

Address: 391A Orchard Road, Ngee Ann City in the Takashimaya shopping centre (level 4 of the store so take the lift)
Muji
Muji has much the same range wherever I visit them around the world. The stores are definitely bigger in Japan and Singapore though. It’s fun to walk around and see all of the other cool things in the shop, and this one even had a cafe inside the store.

I even found a planner in my favorite layout – horizontal weekdays plus notes page. Shame the paper is so thin otherwise I would have bought it.

Obsessed with the rainbow colors of this pen display!

These acrylic drawers would be good for storing washi tape.

Address: various locations. I visited the Muji store in the Plaza Singapura shopping centre
Daiso
Australia’s Daiso stores rarely change their stock so I was curious to see if Singapore’s Daiso had the same stock as Australia.

I liked their range of rainbow washi tape packs (there are a few more that wouldn’t fit in the below photo). I purchased one of them so see how sticky the washi tape actually is.
Update: I hadn’t been to Daiso in Australia in a while. I went there after I returned to Australia and they had some of the same rainbow washi tapes

I also bought some of the sticker sheets in the bottom left of this photo, they’ll be perfect for page marker tabs in my bullet journal.

Otherwise there wasn’t much stationery at Daiso, I was a bit disappointed, I was expecting them to have a larger stationery range.
Address: Various locations in Singapore. I stopped into two Daiso stores and the stock was the same
Typo
An Aussie brand that stocks similar products that I’ve seen recently in the Aussie Typo stores.

I did come across this planner layout which I hadn’t seen before. If the paper quality had been better (paper is bright white but quite thin so pens would bleed through), then I would have purchased to try out the planner.

Binding is close to the text but if you just want a basic planner and not worry about it getting damaged from being tossed in a bag, this would be fine.

Nicely displayed but I don’t recommend Typo pens. The ink doesn’t last long, and they’re prone to smudging and smearing. Cheap pens with an expensive price tag. I think there are far better pens to spend your money on!

Other stationery shops in Singapore
PaperMarket and Evergreen at Great World Market
Great World Market looks out of the way from the tourist areas on the map, but Singapore has a very efficient public transport system (both bus and metro), so if you had more time than I did, you could add these shops to your itinerary.
The Paper Bunny
Based on their stationery products in their online store it looks mostly greeting cards and basic notebooks so I didn’t visit.
Address: 391 Orchard Road #B2-12, Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Ngee Ann City, Singapore 238872
Smiggle
I’m adding this to the list, but only if you have young kids. Smiggle is another Aussie brand that used to have highlighters and pens but these days, it’s all about the brightly colored backpacks and not really much stationery anymore. I went past a few of the Smiggle stores on Orchard Road and they had much the same stock as Australia (no pens or stationery :() so I don’t think it’s worth going to if you want to visit a ‘true’ stationery shop.
Address: various locations around Singapore including multiple stores on Orchard Road
Spotlight
Moreso for craft supplies but if Spotlight in Singapore is similar to Australia’s Spotlight stores, then sometimes you can find pens and other random stationery items. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit Spotlight in the hopes of finding stationery though.
Address: Plaza Singapura on Orchard Road, Level 5 68, Singapore 238839
Lamy
I’m not sure how Lamy stays afloat. All of their stores around the world are tiny ‘hole in the wall’ shops that never seem to have any customers in them when I pass by!
Address: 200 Victoria St, #02-55 Bugis+, Singapore 188067 (there’s another store on Orchard Road too)

Moleskine
Similar to Lamy, I find Moleskine stores around the world have stocked the same notebooks for years so didn’t bother visiting. The paper quality is shocking in Moleskine notebooks and I think they’re very overrated.
Address: 290 Orchard Rd, #02-20 Paragon Shopping Centre, Singapore 238859

Klosh
Based on their products online, they seem to offer more novelty stationery supplies than well known brands or functional planner accessories.
Address: COMPASS ONE 1 Sengkang Square, #03-06/07. Singapore 545078
Cat Socrates
Decorative notebooks and Singapore themed stationery & gifts.
Address: 448 Joo Chiat road, Singapore 427661 and 01-14, 78 Yong Siak Street, Singapore 163078
Art Friend
If you’re looking for brush pens for your bullet journal, most of the stores I recommended earlier in this post sell them. However if you want more art supplies, then Art Friend appears to have plenty to choose from.
Address: Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Road, B1-10/13, Singapore 238839
Stationery I bought in Singapore
I restrained myself quite well when it came to stationery purchases on this trip (I had to, I was already over my luggage limit and was sneaking things into my carry on bag hoping it wouldn’t be weighed!). So I only purchased a few pens, stickers and washi tapes.

I hadn’t been to Daiso in Australia in a while. I went there after I returned to Australia and they had some of the same rainbow washi tapes so I purchased the bright washi tapes too. They feel just as sticky as other washi tapes I’ve had, and peeled off the roll just fine. They’re probably only cheaper as there is far less on the roll (only 3m per roll versus 10m on most washi tape rolls from other brands).

For beautiful stickers (also called adventure seals) and local stationery you can’t go past Loka Made and Paper Adventures by Loka Made. They’re a Malaysian company so you’ll find them in KL as well. Their stickers, postcards etc are brilliant for a travel journal and they even a have stamping station in their shops.
Hi Anne,
That store looks good, shame it opened after my visit!
