Belgium is the place to go for chocolate but it’s also a good place to find stationery! These are my favorite stationery shops in Belgium.
Warning: there’s a lot of photos in this post! The page may need a little time to load.
Brussels
Papeterie NIAS
As soon as I walked through the door, this became one of my favorite stationery shops in all of Europe!
So many planners, pens and notebooks. All the usual brands you see all over Europe – Moleskine, Leuchtturm but some harder to find brands too including the ATOMA discbound system is tons of different sizes and colors. I’ll be doing a separate blog post with a review of the Atoma notebooks.
It’s about 15 minutes walk, one way from the main square of Belgium but was definitely worth it.
The largest variety of sizes and styles of the Atoma brand that I found
It was hard to find an Atoma with dot grid inside pages and I couldn’t find any dot grid refills. It was mostly graph and lined paper.
They had the discs too
Most the covers were just 1 color but I did find this leapoard print
Apart from Atoma, there was a brand called Mr Stationery that had some cute planners I would’ve bought if I’d had the luggage space.
They had some washi tape but it was really expensive
Plenty of sticky notes
I really wanted one of these notebooks but they were quite expensive
They also had well-known brands like Stabilo, Pilot Frixion, Leuchtturm
I discovered Schneider pens while in Austria last year. They’re one of my favorite fineliners – the pen just glides across the page and the colors are really vibrant. Definitely worth the expensive price tag.

HEMA department store
Hema is a chain store all over Europe. As I’d already been to one elsewhere this trip and the stock is the same I didn’t take any photos. If you want to see what stationery they have, see these posts:

GECE Papeterie
I hoped I’d find the discbound Atoma system so was very excited when this shop had a small selection. There was also the usual Stabilo pens, Leuchtturm notebooks etc. It’s a very small shop though so I’d only go here if you don’t have time to go to Papeterie NIAS (I found GECE Papeterie first).
I didn’t take a photo of the front of the shop as there was a ton of roadworks / re-doing the footpath on that main drag and since the shops is small the shop owner was watching me so I couldn’t do any photos.

Bruges
If you do a half day (or full day) trip to Bruges (which you should!), there’s a shop called Dille & Kamille which is part homewares, giftware & stationery. The store has a really nice setup to lookaround but the stationery section is quite small. I found a small stitched notebook for only 3 euro.
There are Dille & Kamille in other countries in Europe too such as Amsterdam.

Antwerp
Standaard Boekhandel
This bookstore had a huge stationery section with many brands I’d never heard of before and plenty of bullet journal notebooks & sticker books.
This is where I found the Musboeken discbound planner (which reminds me of a cross between the Happy Planner and Michael’s Recollections). I’ll be doing a separate review post on the planner, but here’s a peek inside.
The mini page size..
And the medium page size (I think it was about the same size as a classic Happy Planner).
They even had refills for the planner:
I found this dot grid notebook on clearance for only 4 euro!
I really liked these bullet journal sticker books – there were heaps of stickers in them! But they were too heavy to bring home.
They also had bullet journal ideas / tips books but they were in another language.
They had all the usual brands you can find in Europe – Frixion Erasable, Filofax
A nice planner with horizontal + a family / categories layout – would be a great layout for a student
So much to choose from!
I also found a budget planner…
And this planner I’d never heard of (Structure Junkie Planner):
Hallmark even has a planner!

This was really helpful! I’m going to Belgium on an exchange program soon, and now I wanna try the Schneider pens! I’m still worried about finding planners in English though, as I don’t speak French/Dutch
