Where to buy dot grid refill paper (unpunched or punched for discbound planners and notebooks)
I like the Happy Planner dot grid inserts but they all seem to come with a pattern printed down the spine, and sometimes I just want a plain piece of dot grid paper that I can customise myself (add my own washi tape, or maximise the page with extra columns of dots).
While on the hunt for some pre-punched dot grid inserts, it was getting a bit overwhelming comparing the various brands, quantity of pages they are sold in, paper thickness and page sizes. So if you’re also looking for some dot grid inserts to add to your ARC, Happy Planner or other discbound notebook, I’ve compiled my research in this post. I hope you find it helpful!
If anyone would be interested in me creating another list for dot grid inserts pre-punched for ring bound planners, please comment below.

Tips for shopping for dot grid inserts:
Always check the dimensions, not just the stated page size. So many times I see A4 / 8.5 x 11″ mentioned in the product description. 8.5 x 11″ is US letter size NOT A4 page size. A4 paper is longer but not as wide as US letter size. A4 page size is used in Australia and the UK, US letter size is used in the United States
Most inserts come in 100GSM and 120GSM. 120GSM is thicker paper. I would still expect some pen and highlighter ghosting at this paper thickness. I was unable to find any 160GSM inserts (160GSM is usually thick enough) to not have pens bleed through. The thickest I could find was the Inkwell Press at 140GSM.
While researching I mainly came across brands located in the USA, Australia and the UK. I’ve tried to include a variety on this list. Shipping costs can vary wildly, so if price is an important factor, filter by location first.
Not all inserts have a 5mm dot grid spacing (5mm is the most common size dot grid spacing you’ll come across in dot grid notebooks).
In no particular order:
Cloth and Paper
Cloth & Paper offers dot grid pages for many planners including:
- A6
- CP Petite
- Personal
- Personal Wide
- Happy Planner mini
- A5 6 ring punched
- Half US letter 8 ring discbound
- Happy Planner classic
Shop them here.

A few things to note:
- The price varies depending on the page size you choose.
- The weight of the paper is not stated on the Cloth & Paper website (and there are no pen test photos shown)
- 30 pages (15 double sided sheets)
- The dots are printed in black ink on white paper
- The dot grid spacing is not stated on the website and no one appears to mention it in the reviews. I assume it is 5mm dot grid (the most common dot grid size), but if the spacing is important to you, be sure to contact Cloth & Paper to double check before purchasing
May Paper Co.
May Paper Co. offers dot grid pages for many planners including:
- A6
- Personal
- Personal wide
- FC Compact
- Happy Planner mini
- A5 6 ring punched
- Half US letter discbound
- Happy Planner classic
Shop them here.

A few things to note:
- The price varies depending on the page size you choose.
- The preview image on the website doesn’t change when you choose a different page size, so I’m not sure how many holes there are for the discbound inserts
- The paper is 120GSM which isn’t very thick. The website states ‘our silky smooth paper is thick enough to handle most inks – this means no more bleeding, feathering, or ghosting.’ But I couldn’t see photos of a pen test to prove this
- Includes 15 sheets (30 pages as they’re double sided)
- Bright white paper
- Reviews say the dots are grey
Make sure you check the page size and dot grid spacing. Some brands will advertise ‘junior size’ but it is A5. Junior size / half US letter page size is not the same as A5 page size.

Jane’s Agenda
Jane’s Agenda is a USA company that’s been around for a while and offers multiple sizes to choose from:
- Mini discbound
- Junior discbound (half US letter size)
- Classic discbound
- Letter discbound
But the pricing is quite expensive in my opinion.

Eleven Discs
A brand that is compatible with most discbound notebooks, you could use the Eleven Discs refill pages with Levenger Circa, Arc or TUL. They also have a version specifically sized for the Happy Planner classic size.
- 120GSM paper
- Junior page size
- US letter page size
- US letter page size (with blue dot grid)
- Happy Planner classic size
Not the cheapest option out there, but it is readily available on Amazon (including Amazon Australia if you’ve purchased a discbound notebook that comes in USA sizing e.g. junior page size / half US letter).
Just keep in mind their dot grid spacing is 0.25 / ¼-inch which is larger than the ‘standard’ 5mm spacing you’ll find in most notebooks.
Shop them here.
TUL
Very similar to Eleven Discs, you can also use TUL dot grid pre-punched for discbound inserts with other systems such as the ARC and Levenger Circa. The dot grid is 5mm.

- Junior Size
- 8.5 x 11″ (ignore where it says A4, the page size dimensions are 8.5 x 11″ which is US letter size)
Shop them here.

Levenger Circa
Comes in Junior (5.5″ x 8.5″ / half US letter) and US letter size (8.5 x 11″).
Note: the paper is only 90GSM thick and the spacing between each dot is 4.5mm (most dot grid notebooks are 5mm spacing).
While it’s disappointing that the spacing is 4.5mm (I’m used to and much prefer 5mm spacing), I have one of the Levenger Circa planners and the paper is so smooth.

Happy Planner
Happy Planner is a very popular brand but they have their own unique page sizes, so don’t buy A5 inserts and expect them to perfectly fit a Happy Planner notebook.
Here is some A5 note paper from the ARC, in the Happy Planner classic size. I did a detailed comparison of which discbound notebooks are compatible in this post.

The range of Happy Planner inserts is always changing so I won’t link to specific inserts. Definitely stock up if you find inserts you like! And if you’re overwhelmed by all the choices, I’d get something with as least color as possible like the black stripes in the photo below. That way you can add as little or as much color as you like, and your spread will always look good. I also have one of their inserts with a grey confetti pattern down the spine, pastel dots etc.

Happy Planner comes in 3 main page sizes:
- Mini = 5″ x 7″ (11.43cm x 17.78cm)
- Classic = 7″ x 9.25” (17.78cm x 23.495cm)
- Big = 8.5″ x 11″ (US Letter) (21.59cm x 27.94cm)
They also have some other, less common sizes:
- Skinny classic = 4.125″ wide x 9.25″ high (10.48cm x 23.495cm)
- Skinny mini = 2.64″ x 7″ (6.7cm x 17.78cm)

Make sure you check both sides of an insert, often Happy Planner will include lined on one side and dot grid on the other.
Happy Planner have a good mix of dot grid inserts to choose from, including different designs on the spine (where the discs are) and dot grid printed on colored paper. The dot grid spacing can vary so play close attention to the photos before purchasing.

Most shops selling dot grid inserts compatible with Happy Planner, seem to be selling the classic size (the mid range size: 7″ wide x 9.25″ high).

Inkwell Press has the thickest paper I could find – 140GSM. If you like to use highlighters and marker pens, this is your best option.
- 7″ wide x 9″ high
- Includes color printing in the subject box at the top of the page
- 140GSM paper

Oops a daisy
A favorite brand of mine for their planner stencils, but they also have dot grid inserts and A5 dot grid sticker sheets. Perfect for covering up a page in a planner you might not need, or if you like to use a mix of lined and dot grid in the same notebook.
They’re located in the UK.

Etsy shops selling dot grid inserts
A quick search on Etsy will bring up an overwhelming amount of shops selling printable dot grid inserts so make sure you refine your search results for the page size of the planner you’re using.
Otherwise, I shared how to resize printables in this post.
I’ve tried to include a mix of shops that sell inserts in various sizes, in different countries, and both discbound and ring bound inserts. All of these shops have 4 or 5 star shop ratings and are established shops with a decent sales history.
But first, I would be silly not to mention my own shop!
