Germany did not disappoint when it came to stationery which worked out well as it was my last country and I had some luggage weight left…
There’s a lot of photos in this post so please give the page a little time to load!
While in Germany I went to Munich and then Germany, both had some great stationery shops & book shops with large stationery departments.
Munich
I wasn’t that impressed with Munich itself… except when it came to stationery shopping.
Schreibmayr
When I saw the outside of this shop I thought it wouldn’t have much and would be super expensive. It actually had a lot of stationery and wasn’t too badly priced.
I purchased a Cedron dot grid notebook (12.90 euro) and a Legami dot grid notebook (15.45 euro)
Magazin
This shop didn’t have much stationery but it did have the Nuuna dot grid notebook. It was expensive (22.90 euro) but since I’ve recieved a few reader requests I splurged and bought it. FYI the dots in the Nuuna are only 3mm apart not the usual 5mm that’s in most dot grid notebooks.
Muji
I’ve been to a few Muji shops on my last trip to Europe. Most of the stuff was the same as I’d seen the year before. The only thing I bought was a dual ended highlighter (chisel and fine tip). It’s a nice highlighter but I wouldn’t buy again – there’s plenty of dual tip highlighters that are just as good for a cheaper price.
New (to me anyway) rainbow brush pens:
They had some dated planners but they were too plain and expensive so I didn’t get any.

Oberammergau
You may be wondering why this tiny little town makes it to the list. It was part of a day tour I did to Neuswanstein Castle from Munich.
I randomly stumbled upon a stationery / gift / book shop and found 2 nice dot grid notebooks. When I asked if one of the notebooks that was vacuum sealed wrapped in plastic lay flat, the store owner went and removed the plastic wrapping so I could see for myself!
I almost bought this notebook but there was only a few days left in the trip by this point and Mum finally put her foot down – to be fair I’d snuck about 10 notebooks into her suitcase by that point… (thanks Mum!)
I purchased 2 different styles of dot grid notebooks by this brand myNOTES.

Frankfurt
Frankfurt itself doesn’t have much to see and do but it did have a few stationery shops!
Papier Kramer
This shop had tons of planners, bullet journals, pens and cute gift wrapping stuff like washi tape. Everything was quite expensive though.
This washi tape is so cute but it was more than 4 euro! No thank you…
Address: Liebfrauenstraße 1-3, 60313 Frankfurt am Main, Germany
KAUT-BULLINGER Büro-Fachgeschäft
This shop had tons of stationery! If you can only make it to one of the shops in Frankfurt on this list, make it this one. This shop has multiple floors with the stationery scattered across multiple levels.
Just when you thought you’d seen pineapple anything and everything.. you can now buy pineapple snow globes
Address: Steinweg 12, 60313 Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Faber-Castell
I’m including this on the list just so you know that it exists, but I didn’t even bother going in – the whole shop was just expensive pens.

Tedi
This was a random junk shop where I had some time and thought what the heck I’ll take a look. I randomly found a planner for 3 euro! It’s a dated planner but in the style of bullet journal with pages in a hand-drawn / sketched look.
I was tempted to get this bullet journal because it was cheap and had a wide page size, but I really hated the floral cover so didn’t get it.
I do regret not buying these pastel markers. I have the rainbow version and really like them for underlining but they tend to bleed through – maybe these pastel ones won’t bleed through.
Hema
Hema shops are all over Europe. I’d already been to a few earlier in the trip so didn’t take many pictures in the one in Frankfurt. They have an assortment of affordable notebooks in various sizes, stationery like pens, highlighters, paper clips etc.

Paperchase
They don’t have a standalone shop but you can find Paperchase products in the stationery section of the Karstadt department store. I’d already been to a few Paperchase and they have the same stock so I didn’t take any photos of the one in Frankfurt.

Thank you so much for this round-up of awesome stores!
I recently moved to Munich and love finding new shops to cater to my stationery addiction. 😉 I already found the Munich branch of Kaut-Bullinger, but had no idea there is so much to see (and buy) in the Fünf Höfe – now I know what I’m going to do on the weekend.
Also (and I know this recommendation is a tiny bit too late), there’s a nice crafting store called Idee Creativmarkt in the Stachus-Passagen right below the Mathäser cinema. They also have quite a few other stores all over Germany. If you like washi tapes, stamps and/or other bits and bobs for your planner, I definitely recommend visiting there.

Yes, all 3 shops were conveniently close together in that shopping centre!
I did visit Idea Creativmarkt but as it was more of a craft shop than stationery / planners I didn’t include it in the post.
