Finland is known for being expensive so I was expecting their stationery shops to be expensive too. But the stationery prices were actually comparable to the rest of Europe!
These are my favorite stationery shops in Finland:
- clas ohlson
- Suomalainen Kirjakauppa
- Flying Tiger Copenhagen
clas ohlson
This shop reminded me of IKEA – you have to go through the entire store to reach the exit. It had a bit of everything from clothes to hardware, electronics… and stationery!
They had a few planners to choose from – some generic layouts and some a bit more unique like this daily planner:
Address: Kamppi Centre (not far from the main train station) – Urho Kekkosen katu 1, 00100 Helsinki, Finland
Suomalainen Kirjakauppa
I didn’t even bother trying to pronounce the name of this shop! This massive bookstore had a good stationery range upstairs.
Planners, pens, dot grid notebooks, pencil cases – so much to choose from.
The Suomalainen Kirjakauppa seemed to be their flagship store but you can find smaller Suomalainen stores in shopping centres.
Address: Suomalainen Kirjakauppa Aleksi 15 – Aleksanterinkatu 15, 00100 Helsinki, Finland
They had a smaller shop in the Kamppi shopping centre – the product range was much the same.
This was their smaller shop in Rovaniemi, Lapland.
I really liked these pens but found them cheaper online so resisted.
After seeing these dot grid notebooks a few times I finally caved and bought the blue one.
Address: Koskikatu 27, 96200 Rovaniemi, Finland (inside their shopping centre)
MUJI
This was a pop-up store in the Kamppi shopping centre (not far from Helsinki’s main train station). I’m not sure if the intention is for it to become permanent. It had a smaller selection than a MUJI store – in terms of stationery it really only had it’s well known gel pens and not much else.
Address: Kamppi Centre (not far from the main train station)
Flying Tiger Copenhagen
This chain store has a bit of everything including a small stationery section. I’d already been to this shop in a few other countries and found the same products were in each so I didn’t bother taking photos of the stationery in this one.
If you want to get an idea of the stationery they have, see my roundup of my favorite stationery shops in Copenhagen.

Hi! Muji has now opened its European flagship store in Kamppi Centre, Helsinki this November. The largest one in Europe, featuring Muji Restaurant and taking up one entire floor of the mall.
Another big bookstore is Akateeminen Kirjakauppa near Stockmann shopping centre (more upscale than Suomalainen) and a recommendable small stationery store Putinki has a few locations in the city centre.

Hi Elina,
I went to Akateeminen Kirjakauppa and Putinki but didn’t think their stationery was that great so I left them off the list. Darn about Muji – I just missed it!
