My all time favorite washi tapes (and how I organize them)

Today I’m sharing all of the washi tape I have in my collection (it’s probably not as much as you think!)

There’s a lot of washi I recommend so this post has:

  • Video walkthrough of my current washi tape collection
  • The drawers I use to organize my washi tape
  • What’s in each drawer including links to each of those washi tapes
  • The washi tape I recommend if you have very limited storage space and don’t want to spend a lot of money trying out different washi tape

The drawers I use to organize my washi tape

I’ve tried various ways for organizing washi tape over the years. For the size of my collection I’ve found that these acrylic 3 tier drawers from Michaels are the best. They’re affordable, you can stack them, they have gripper things underneath so they won’t scratch your desk, they slide in and out smoothly and they don’t look cheap and tacky. I can see what’s in each drawer and the pop of color from all the washi tapes at the front looks good on my desk!

The dividers keep the washi tape neat so it’s not rolling around and merging with other rows of washi when you pull the drawers out (they come out completely), as was the case back when I stored my washi in boxes.

A similar set of drawers (without the dividers) is available here.

Most of these washi tapes are from my sister’s planner supplies store, Carefully Crafted.

I’ve organized the list by what’s in each drawer:

Other washi tape I don’t have drawers to store them in yet

Glitter washi tape can be hit and miss. I’ve had some that I’ve had no issues with the glitter flaking off, and others where the glitter seems to end up everywhere. The Paper Studio looks good, but it’s the most messy one to use.

I forgot to mention the Studio Light functional washi tape in the video – this brand has days of the week and months of the year. I like it, but I like the font on the Sunshine Sticker co washi tape more.

My favorites

If you have very limited storage space and don’t want to spend a lot of money trying out different washi tape, I recommend these:

  • Skinny rainbow washi (3mm) – can use to cover up boring black borders in an existing planner, create borders in your bullet journal, underline titles etc.
  • Skinny rainbow washi (5mm) – same reasons as above, but sometimes you need a bit wider washi, this one is good for color coding calendars as it won’t take up much space in the boxes for each day
  • Doodlebug rainbow washi tape sets in either chevron, polka dot or stripes (they’re more expensive but there’s so much washi on the rolls, they’re great quality and the colors are very bright)
  • Sunshine Sticker Co. – this brand has the best and widest variety of functional washi tapes that I’ve found so far

There are far more washi tapes I would like to add to my collection but this is all I have… for now!
