One of the planners I considered using for the 52 Planners in 52 Weeks challenge was the Kate Spade Planner. I ended up deciding not to use it (I explain more about why in the video and in the cons section of this post) , but thought I would share a video walkthrough of the planner, in case you were thinking about using it.
To enlarge the screen of the video, click the square icon in the bottom right hand corner of the video (it will say ‘full screen’ when you hover your mouse over the icon).

Sizes: Medium is 7.8″ high x 6″ wide (shown in the video) and small
Cover Style: the cute gold polka dots shown in the video and also available in black horizontal stripes
Style: Week on 2 pages, horizontal, lined – it’s the same layout regardless of the size
Weekend style: Saturday and Sunday each have half a planning space/combined
Week starts: Sunday
Cost: This planner is a bit pricey (although it is on sale now since we’re already a month into 2017)
Pros of the Kate Spade Planner
- Come in 2 sizes – small and large
- Sophisticated, simple and clean design
- Gives you a bucket list of sorts for each month
- Plenty of room to write in the weekly spread
- Simple cover design – the gold foil is very pretty!
- Very study thick cover – the thickest cover I’ve see for a planner
- Pocket folders – not one but 2 pocket folders
- Notes pages dispersed throughout the planner in between the months
- The daily planning spaces for Monday through Friday could be divided with a ruled line or some washi tape to create a 2 section planning space
- Simple clean layout that can be completely customised to your liking
- 17 month planner – runs from August 2016 through to December 2017
- Gold coil – and the gold effect doesn’t look ‘cheap’!
Let’s take a look at the inside pages of the planner
The front cover is sturdy, thick cardstock with space to add your contact details and a pocket folder
Annual holiday’s pages (for USA only)
Plan your year ahead
2 page Monthly spread
2 page weekly spread
The planner runs from August 2016 to December 2017
Each month has some notes pages
They also include the first week of 2018 if you’re waiting for your new planner to arrive!
The same pattern on the front appears on the back cover

Cons of the Kate Spade Planner
- Small writing space
- Basic design – there is only lined writing space for each daily spread
- Hard to find planner stickers to match
- Monthly writing space is small
- Expensive
- The notes space on the sidebar of the monthly spreads is very narrow and not really useable for more than 1 word per task lists (although there are 2 notes pages for each month dispersed throughout the planner)
While the Kate Spade Planner was not for me, I do love some of her other products including the polka dot luggage tag.
