I’m not a fan of Kikki K’s full page neon colored layouts so when they bought out a minimalist range (so I can choose my own colors without thinking about how the colors will clash with the colors of the planner), I jumped on one of the last layouts I’d yet to do a review of – the horizontal.
What’s even better… it only had 6 months left in the planner and was on clearance for $2! The cheapest I’ve ever seen a brand name planner, let alone a Kikki K planner. Kikki K do calendar and academic year planners so if you like this layout, the academic year version might be released soon.

The Cover
The fabric hardcover is that material that’s prone to collecting lint but it’s super sturdy.
Approx 0.5″ thick
At the front is the dates at a glance calendar before it goes straight into the months.
Monthly Calendar
Each month has a lined notes pages for monthly planning or a monthly review.

I really like this monthly calendar format – hard to find in printed planners! I ditched the traditional box style format years ago in favour of list style (much more room to write).
Weekly Planning
Week starts Monday.
I like the mix of lined and unlined writing space for each day. I think this planner would work well for combining work and personal or school and personal – you could use the lined space for a checklist for each category.
Each box is 8cm wide x 4.6cm high.
The lined sidebar is 4cm wide (line spacing is just under 6mm).
Extra Pages
It’s cool that its something different but the crosses are far too busy. You can see how they look in a weekly spread when I used Kikki K’s grid journal.

Lined pages
The line spacing is 6mm.
And some lined list pages
4 of these pages.
Public holidays for most countries
(There’s more pages / countries – I just didn’t take photos of them all).
Tabs
Each tab is 1cm wide.
There is one sheet of functional planner stickers. I like the stickers… but would’ve preferred gold foil like some of their other stickers.
Pen Testing
I didn’t do a pen test of this planner, as I’ve already done a pen test of the Grid Journal which has the same paper.

Overall, the paper quality was…. not that great.
Almost every pen and highlighter had ghosting.
Pros of the Planner
- Portable size
- Minimalist color scheme – can decorate however you like without worrying about the colors clashing with the colors of the planner
- Weekly spread has a mix of lined and unlined writing space
- Pocket folder
- Comes with a sheet of planner stickers
- List style monthly calendar instead of traditional box format
- Tabs
- Lined, grid and list pages at the back of the planner
- 1 Ribbon bookmark
Cons of the Planner
- Paper is thin and prone to ghosting
- I’m not a fan of the cross instead of a dot to form the grid on the pages at the back
Would I use this planner?
Yes. I like the look of this planner and horizontal is my favorite layout. I think this planner would work well if you want to combine work and personal in the one planner.
