Lemome Dot Grid Notebook Review (Including Pen Test)

For some reason, a lot of people seem to have heard of the Lemome dot grid notebook. At first glance it just looked like any other dot grid notebook with a plain black cover so… I grabbed a copy to see what the fuss was about.

I did a review of the Lemome weekly planner in this post.

The Cover

The cover is that typical hardcover fake leather material you see on just about every dot grid notebook these days. I really wanted the blue one but only the black was available when I bought my copy 🙁

Boring cover but at least it has a built in pen loop!

Approx 0.75″ thick

Dot Grid Pages

The notebook has no contents / index pages or any other pre-printed pages.

The entire notebook has 5mm dot grid pages only.

No page numbers. At least the dots aren’t printed right on the margin (some notebooks do this and then the dots get cut off).

There is only 1 ribbon bookmark but at least the pages lay flat on their own.

One corner of the notebook was dented in transit from the USA to Australia.

Something different: the notebook comes with tab stickers you can fix to the edge of the pages to separate your notebook.

Roomy pocket folder at the back.

Pen Testing

The paper is 120 GSM which is thicker than some dot grid notebooks… but still not that thick. I’ve found that 140 GSM or higher tends to have no ghosting or bleed through.

Pretty good for the pens

Some minor ghosting for the highlighters

Pros of the Notebook

  • Multiple cover colors to choose from
  • Built in pen loop
  • Pocket folder
  • Comes with tab stickers
  • Paper only had minor ghosting
  • Pages lay flat on their own

Cons of the Notebook

  • No page numbers
  • Only 1 ribbon bookmark
  • No index / contents page
  • Ivory paper, not bright white (my personal preference)
  • Boring cover

Would I use this notebook?

I’ll be using this notebook for drafting spreads only as I prefer to use bullet journal notebooks that have page numbers. I also find this notebook quote boring – there’s nothing unique about it except the tab stickers and you could just use washi tape to make tabs if you didn’t have those.

If you want a basic notebook that doesn’t have much pen ghosting or bleed through without losing pages to accommodate really thick paper, while still keeping in an affordable price range, this notebook is a good option.

If you like this notebook it’s available on Amazon.
