Quick, simple and functional bullet journal decorating tips

Most of these quick and simple bullet journal decorating tips are probably quite obvious but I hope you still get some ideas!

1. Borders

I count the dots and then draw a little circle so I can see it. The best way to cover that up.. just turn it into a bigger dot.

2. Washi Tape

Washi tape can cover up just about everything. The best washi tape is glitter as it’s thicker than normal rice paper washi tape and not see through. Otherwise ‘busy’ designs such as floral prints or chevrons will hide any mistakes.

For dividing up the page, I like the MAMBI thin washi.

3. Headings

Using different styles with black pen is probably the easiest and quickest way to make a bujo spread less plain – these are some of my favorite headings:

4. Highlighters

You don’t need expensive dual tip highlighters like the Zebra Mildliners to do some decorating.

Just angle a normal chisel tip highlighter to create different thicknesses – alternate between fat border and thin, dashed etc.

5. Colored pens

Even my favorite Frixion erasable pens come in different colors – just make sure you get the pencil like ones as these have nicer colors than the clicker and capped lid style.

6. Stickers

Specifically, date dot stickers and days of the week stickers.

If you have neutral stickers you can add a border using a highlighter, or just color the sticker with a highlighter or pencil before peeling off the sticker sheet:

7. Stamps

Instead of drawing checkboxes all the time, try some stamps! I personally don’t like stamps that require an ink pad and instead only use self-inking stamps. Unfortunately there aren’t many brands to choose from. I mainly use the Frixion erasable and MAMBI checklist stamps.
